Things that I've learned during the Pandemic

Things that I've learned during the Pandemic

1) Look after yourself - Probably among the most important thing to remember during the time of uncertainty for your mentality. Whilst it's good to beware of what's happening in the news and certain causes, it's just as important to look after yourself too. We all may not have it easy with the world's difficulties but it's not healthy for you to get stressed with the news, especially with things out of our control. I have been going through stress and anxiety on a few occasions last year so I've limit my time on social media for my mental health. From this point on, I strive to focus on what I can do, what makes me happy, what helps to inspire me to make me grow as a person and stay away from pointless drama, meaningless conflict and negatively that'll get me down including toxic negativity (and only focus on news and causes that I find meaningful). Again, I'm all for fighting for a better future but I am only one guy and whilst life may not always be fair, I can only change my reaction and make the best of it.

One of my notable case is when Chester Zoo was in danger of closing down due to the Pandemic which is when my mind was at its worst but I am thankful that it's still open with me doing my bit to support them by donating for a place for me to enjoy and visit and for the Zoo to help the animals with conservation.

2) Be grateful with what you have in life - We may hear this saying here and there but it couldn't be more truer in life. One day, we would have our everyday lives that we take for granted including our jobs, gatherings, shopping, holidays and concerts, only for them to be taken away as shown with the Pandemic so we have to follow the guidelines so that we can return to our everyday lives. On the flip side, I am grateful that I have a lot of stuff to keep me occupied during the isolation including my video games, music, YouTube and writing. They help to keep me going. I am also grateful for the people who have done all they can regarding to the Pandemic by helping others, dealing with the virus or keeping us occupied during the isolation. Sure there may have been some difficult people but I find it worthwhile focusing on the good people while leaving karma to the bad ones. Afterall, we are all in this together.

We also have to find new ways to adapt with the situation, just as described in the book I've been reading; 'Who moved my cheese' by Dr Spencer Johnson which you should check it out.

3) It gets better and hope never dies (as said by my Brother) - As we all get through the Pandemic and other challenging events, there is light at the end of tunnel with more people getting vaccinated which is a step forward to return to our everyday lives. The world will be a much better place, even better before the Pandemic. Of course, we still need to have our own responsibility to keep everyone safe and ourselves by following the guidelines including washing our hands, get vaccinated when's possible and wear face masks when needed.

I am however aware that we have lost some lives during the Pandemic. I get that some of you maybe still grieving, I feel for you. Nevertheless, we mustn't lose our way as we move forward in life while never forgetting their lives which will make them proud, living our life for the fullest.

Nevertheless, we have to hold onto our hope in order to move onwards in life. It is easy to close your heart and live in fear but by opening your heart to optimism and the good things in life and doing your best to have the courage to carry on is true strength. No matter what, let's not lose sight to who we are with better times ahead.
